The new BMW 4 Series Coupe is on its way, with final adjustments being made to it by engineers now. And you can watch a video of the prototype here.
BMW says its forthcoming two-door 4 Series Coupe will offer the sportiest and most dynamic driving experience in its segment.
The premium German car maker has been carrying out exhaustive tests – including winter driving in Sweden and track time at the famous Nurburgring in Germany.
Engineers are now making final tweaks to the chassis technology on the motorways and country roads around the marque’s research centre in Munich.
And BMW is keen to stress that the new 4 is a very different beast from its 3 Series compact executive saloon sibling. It is considerably more aerodynamic and low-slung and has a lower centre of gravity, providing “the ideal basis for a chassis set-up focussed unerringly on exhilarating dynamic performance”.
The suspension and steering have also been reworked for a sportier but controlled drive, more precise, responsive feedback and powerful, confident cornering.
The top-end model will be the M440i xDrive, powered by a straight six 374hp 3.0-litre engine assisted by 48V mild-hybrid technology that generates an extra 11hp.
Linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission and intelligent all-wheel-drive system, BMW says it all results in “lightning-fast off-the-line getaways and in-gear sprints” and “outstanding performance credentials”.
And the differential set-up, which makes use of the electric motor, enhances traction and stability further in demanding driving situations. BMW claims the new 4 Series Coupe will “serve up driving pleasure that thrills and delights – day in, day out”.
